Product Description:
The products in this section are designed to make the EIFS installation process less costly while retaining system integrity. Most of these products have been designed with the help of industry professionals. They are manufactured of high-impact resistant, lead free PVC and conform to ASTM standards D1784 and C1063. All products shall be third party tested to meet ASTM standard D4216-99 and be Canadian Code Compliant. All products are listed by ITS/Warnock Hersey. They may be used with any insulated system, hard wall system, or fiber reinforced insulated system.
Basic Use:
These products are designed to help eliminate labor intensive practices (such as rasping and back wrapping) and to provide straight and impact resistant edges. The Starter Trac™ with drip edge will stop any moisture from running down the face and back into the system. Starter tracs and casing beads will also eliminate the need to apply finish at the termination point. A separate line of heavy duty casing beads for the modified “hard coat” cement stucco systems are available. These products are designed for the EPS board to sit in a protective shelf, and allow for either a 1/4" or 1/2" thick stucco to be applied.
Installation:
Installation should be in accordance with, and recommendations of system manufacturer, accepted industry standards and local building codes.
Weather Resistance:
Ultraviolet Sunlight: Plasticizers and similar chemicals which can migrate to the surface are not present in the PVC formulas used in the manufacturing of PLASTIC COMPONENTS, INC. products covered in this section.
Low Temperatures: All materials, including metals, will gradually harden as temperatures drop. What is important, is the ability of the material to function as the temperature drops.
Coefficient of Expansion and Contraction: PVC products are weaker than the materials to which they are attached and the plaster in which they are embedded. Therefore, the products will move with the wall and the plaster they are embedded in, and are not free to express their coefficient of expansion and contraction.
Cost:
PLASTIC COMPONENTS, INC. products for this application offer lower in place costs than back wrapping and finishing.
Specification:
A short form CSI specification is printed on each product sheet. A description is included to assist you in the proper selection of product. ASTM standard specification (copy) is available upon request.
Maintenance:
PVC products have a built in resistance to damage and will return to their original shape when subjected to normal impact. There is no transmission of shock, which means damage is localized to the point of impact. Repairs can be made by returning the product to its original shape and reapplying finish to the damaged area. If cut, the product can be repaired with vinyl cement.
Caulking: Caulking materials bond very well to PVC products. Contact the caulk manufacturer or Demand Products, Inc. for specific recommendations. Painting: No special preparation necessary.
